Louisiana State Employees Retirement System (LASERS)

The Louisiana State Employees Retirement System (LASERS) operates a state-wide network that manages retirement benefits on behalf of the employees of the State of Louisiana.  As such, the agency must track weekly payroll deductions as well as state contributions to retirement accounts on a semi-monthly basis, manage the investments on a day-to-day basis, and perform payroll functions for tens of thousands of retired state employees.

As a primary support contractor for LASERS, Sparkhound plays a significant role in the funtioning of LASERS network infrastructure.  The scope of support includes upgrades, troubleshooting and repair of LASERS' statewide network as well as design and management of its enterprise systems.  Furthermore, Sparkhound provides consulting services to LASERS for budgeting and recommendations for hardware and software upgrades.

Current Projects:
Sparkhound is working with Bearingpoint in the installation of a new pension administration system built on the Microsoft .NET platform.
This multi-year engagement will significantly increase LASERS’ efficiency, cost-effectiveness and customer service levels while providing more timely and convenient access to retirement benefit information for working and retired public employees in Louisiana.
