PHNS Inc. (PHNS) is an outsourcing firm specializing in providing IT services to for medical industry. The company reduces the cost of services to hospital organizations through the use of shared technology between hospitals. The products offered by PHNS are data center facilities (mainframe, mid-size and server computing), networking, support and application development.
PHNS engaged Sparkhound to assist in the upgrade their premier web product, Provider CareNet. This web-based system allows physicians, nurses, clinicians, and hospital administrative staff convenient and secure access to patient information that facilitates improved and more timely care for patients. The Sparkhound resources provided were organized in a tiered structure such that a senior level developer/project leader directed the work of other Sparkhound resources in order to minimize the PHNS time required to manage its contracted resources.
Sparkhound performed additional projects such as automating data transfers from Cerner’s patient information system into standardized HL7 formats in PHNS’ data warehouse. This project extensively utilized stored procedures to do data validation, error corrections, formatting, etc.
