Executive Summary

Headquartered in Baton Rouge, the company provides occupational medicine to clients nationwide. Due to recent growth, the client needed a more robust infrastructure to manage thousands of patients, clinics and employees around the U.S.

CHALLENGE

As Fortune 500 companies awarded the company multi-year contracts, the client needed to upgrade its systems to handle the high-demand while maintaining security around its critical data. With limited IT resources to implement the large-scale project, the client wanted a partner who could build a medical communication system that met the following business needs: Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week with little to no downtime A hierarchy of security checkpoints for sensitive patient medical data Robust patient status reporting system with automated workflow functionalities

SOLUTION

After working with the client’s executive team to understand its business needs, Sparkhound created a multi-tier, centralized application that utilized several Microsoft technology solutions: Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) with Windows Server and out-of-the-box functionality to manage medical form templates anytime, anywhere Active Directory to house and access user information securely Automated three-export processes to generate client medical letters and reports, verify account receivables and manage medical benefits

IMPACT

By building a multi-tiered system that is scalable and flexible, the client can now quickly adapt for future client growth. In addition, the new system’s automation and central storage of data helped increase productivity, resulting in significant cost savings long-term.
