Sparkhound President And CEO Joins E. J. Ourso College Of Business Dean's Advisory Council

​BATON ROUGE, La., Nov. 2 -- Louisiana State University issued the following news release: Shawn Usher, president and chief executive officer of Sparkhound Inc. has joined the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business Dean'sAdvisory Council. He will serve the council as part of its Marketing & Public Relations Committee. "We certainly welcome Shawn's expertise to DAC," said E. J. Ourso College Dean Eli Jones. "With Sparkhound, he is at the head of an organization that creates more efficient, competitive businesses, and we have no doubt he will provide valuable insight to the college." Usher has more than 22 years of experience in the information technology industry with a specific focus on effectively applying IT to accomplish business and organizational goals. In 1998, Usher was one of the founders of Sparkhound Inc., a business consulting and full-service IT company with practice areas, including application development, business consulting, core infrastructure and networking, deployment, enterprise applications and service desk/network support. Before forming Sparkhound, Usher held several leadership roles, including managing a team of business consultants for the General Health System, formerly the parent company of three hospitals; a health insurance company; and 25 smaller healthcare-related companies. With his team, Usher provided guidance into the purchase, development and support of various business applications for the organization. The team increased the efficiency of General Health'sInformation Services department by increasing the technical knowledge of clients and the quality of their technology-related business decisions. Usher has served on numerous professional and community boards, including the Baton Rouge Rotary Club, International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners, Boys Hope Girls Hope Board of Directors, Blueprint Louisiana, Louisiana Technology Council, St. Joseph's Academy Technology Board, and the LSU Center for Virtual Organizations and Commerce. Usher earned his bachelor's degree in quantitative business analysis in 1992, and his master's degree in business administration from LSU in 1998. DAC exists to promote and improve the E. J. Ourso College. The accomplished professionals who form its membership donate their time, talents and resources to support the dean in his efforts to enhance the substance and image of the E. J. Ourso College.
