Executive Summary

IFCO SYSTEMS is an international logistics service provider with more than 210 locations worldwide. It operates more than 125 million RPCs (Reusable Plastic Containers) globally and a Pallet Management Services business in North America. Because its clients are worldwide, IFCO SYSTEMS requires a IT system that is flexible, cost-effective and robust to support the industry’s stringent demands.

CHALLENGE

IFCO SYSTEMS wanted to deploy Windows 7 with Office 2010 across more than 70 U.S. branch locations. IFCO could not successfully launch the project alone due to methodology deficiencies and deployment limitations: Geographically dispersed workforce with limited IT presence Lack of bandwidth for network connectivity More than 20 different target machine models that required unique driver sets Image configuration management that required manual assistance In addition, all profile-specific business data files had to be retained and transferred during the deployment seamlessly.

SOLUTION

To overcome the company’s current set up limitations, Sparkhound implemented a customized Methodology and strategic deployment:  Rolled out implementation across more than 70 branch locations (650 employees), while tracking and providing Tier III technical support  Installed, configured and delivered a tailored Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)  Leveraged SCCM, MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) and MDOP DaRT (Microsoft Deployment Optimization Pack - Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset) to build a custom “Zero Touch Installation” USB device

IMPACT

By not implementing a manual deployment, Sparkhound saved IFCO’s IT division approximately 33 percent revenue, accelerated timelines, and increased technology use and user productivity.
